The front man of the popular American hard rock band Linkin Park, Chester Bennington was found dead in his home, apparently found to have committed suicide by hanging. His body was found by an employee in the morning on Thursday. He is survived by his spouse Talinda Bentley and has six children. As no autopsy has been released, it is still unclear if he had taken any alcohol or drugs at the time of death. The artist was profoundly affected by his best friend, popular singer Chris Cornell’s suicide in May 2017. He had posted a letter addressing Cornell and had performed ‘Hallelujah’ at his memorial service.

He arrived back to Los Angeles on Wednesday from Arizona where his family were spending time. Multiple sources suggest that Chester hanged himself in his bedroom, similar to the way his friend Cornell. It is said that one of his band mates was driving him to the photo-shoot that was scheduled in Hollywood. Chester had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because of abuse in his childhood.

Chester, 41, was one of the greatest rock artists of his time and had an immense contribution in making Linkin Park one of the most popular bands of the millennium. The band is said to be the most influential rock band of the 21st century and Chester’s demise is an unbearable loss for the band and its huge fan base. The band released seven albums from 2000 to 2017 with all of them reaching the top three on the Billboard 200. Their lyrics often addressed struggle, depression, addiction and pain. He has struggled with drug and alcohol addiction in the past, which once had threatened his well-being. In an interview he had also described his substance abuse and addiction of acid hits, crack, meth, opium and also alcohol. This substance abuse is related to the depression he suffered because of sexual abuse in his childhood. He had also talked about how his struggle with drug abuse and addiction fueled in making many of Linkin Park’s greatest hits like ‘Crawling’ and many more from their first album ‘Hybrid Theory’. The platinum-selling band gained further more success with albums like ‘Meteora’, ‘Minutes To Midnight’, ‘The Hunting Party’ and ‘A Thousand Suns’.

Bennington’s heartfelt vocals were fueled by anguish. His voice had all the pain and raw emotions.  However, his final tweets to fans had an optimistic look into the future. The band’s music video for the song ‘Talking To Myself’ was released three hours ago before his death was announced. The lyrics of their latest song written by Bennington titled, ‘Heavy’ has verses that derived from their conversations regarding troubles and frustrations in their own lives. However, Mike Shinoda, his band mate had previously revealed that Chester seemed disturbed on the day the song was written and the fans are now relating the lyrics as a hint of Chester’s depression.
